7x29-1/8" artboard features original pen and ink art for Feb. 4, 1931 daily strip, featuring pencils by longtime Mickey Mouse comic artist Floyd Gottfredson (whose tenure w/the strip began on May 5, 1930 and lasted until his retirement in 1975) w/inks by Earl Duvall. Strip is from the "Mickey Mouse Vs. Kat Nipp" storyline and features five panels (last four featuring original art), showing Mickey Mouse battling self-declared "Toufest Guy In The Kounty" Kat Nipp, who has already made good on his earlier threat to tie knots in Mickey's tail, which currently sports seven knots! Laughing, Mickey taunts Kat Nipp, telling him "There's Nothing More You Can Do To My Tail," which causes Kat Nipp to produce a large pair of scissors and snip the tip of Mickey's tail off, much to our hero's utter shock. As one might expect, this caused some controversy amongst readers in 1931, cementing this strip's place in Disney history. Both Mickey and Kat Nipp appear in every art panel. Third panel has thin Walter E. Disney copyright strip paste-over and last panel bears inked date. Left margin has handwritten "3" at top left corner in red pencil. Penciled "435" at right margin. Back has "A Sharp Retort" title written in blue pencil. Artboard has been rolled and has curl as such. Left/right margins show some wear w/lt. fraying to edges; not affecting art. Pin holes at top corners. Some lt. even aging and scattered dust soiling at margins. Art remains clean and Exc. From the Estate of Disney Artist Earl Duvall, known for his work on Disney comic strips in the early 1930s and for a handful of animated short films he directed at Warner Bros. Cartoons.
