Description

Jack Sparling drew it all, all genres - romance, horror, western, war, superhero - and he plied his craft for everyone - Dell, Gold Key, Harvey, Gilberton, Charlton, Fawcett, Toby Press, DC, and Marvel. Additionally, Sparling kept at it for nearly five decades.

While this page is intended to be comedic, the storyline chronicles an unfortunate dynamic between men and women where women too often come up short. My wife tells me that men are the reason for most of the world’s problems, a claim I find difficult to challenge.

That claim admitted, I think each panel is a minor gem, and that last one is a killer of composition and perspective. It’s too bad Peggy and Pat weren’t around to see the fall of a guy like Harvey Weinstein. Joan Crawford, indeed!

And who knew that floating exclamation points surrounding floating heads could reveal such surprise and dismay? Thanks very much to Bechara of Nostalgic Investments!

Mark, Fantastic pickup. You are right about Every panel being a Gem, making this page the Crown Jewels!

I often have exclamation points flying around my head. Very salient points, and very cool GA page. I love seeing these come up. Congrats!

Jack Sparling drew some great dames for Harvey in the 50's, but the Comics Code didn't always approve.

Fabulous page! Love the layout! That panel with just the girls' heads and the flying exclamation points is a hoot!
