Description

The "Identity Crisis" of the late 90s during the Spidey comics was right up my alley. As a young reader, catching up to these stories in the Dutch reprints, I loved seeing all these shiny, different costumes - if only for a short amount of time. Although nothing could beat the 90s Spidey costume by Bagley (see my other commission on this by Mr Bagley).

Out of these new secret outfits, Hornet's was one of my favorite. The collaborative aspect of this outfit - designed by his wife Mary Jane Watson, with the weaponry by his brother Ben Reilly and a jetpack developed by his friend Prowler (Hobie Brown) - still comes to mind.

What better X-mas gift from my girlfriend than a half splash featuring the hero in a typical heroical pose? The whole point about these four identities Peter had, was that he could be a more typical hero (and not be the despised Spidey) - and I love how Joe Bennett went with that idea and posed him as one. The costume would later also come back at Marvel and be worn by several other (anti)heroes.

Size as always is 11x17 with pencils by Joe & inks by Bud LaRosa.
