DescriptionJohn Romita pencils with Jim Mooney inks, from the CLASSIC 1968 AMAZING SPIDERMAN story titled: "To Squash A Spider!" Spider-Man Battles MYSTERIO! Aunt May & Anna May Watson also! I personally feel that Jim Mooney was the BEST inker EVER on JOHN ROMITA (next to Romita inking himself) Mooney's inks are so detailed that the only inker I feel who inked better in the 1960s was Joe Sinnott!Social/Sharing |

Mike, I think you're absolutely right about Mooney's inks. The ink is what drew my eye to the thumbnail on this piece as I scrolled along the New Art pages here on CAF. Those inks truly POP and bring out a level of depth in Romita's lines I normally don't sense. This page feels more real, as if there is more at stake, because of Mooney's inks over Romita. Plus the narrative of the page by Stan makes for a perfect singular page story on its own within the context of the rest of the issue. I love it all.
Thank you for sharing with us!

I couldnt agree with you more Ryan! It's jsut amazing to see how much effort both of these artists put into EVERY page they worked on together with detail in the BACKGROUNDS as much as the main characters on erch page!

An outstanding example of what made Spidey great during the Romita Sr. period. I remember buying this comic off of the stands at a 7-11 in Fletcher Hills San Diego, and reading and re-reading it a dozen times on that Saturday morning. Brings back a lot of fun memories. Thanks for sharing it!
