11-1/8x14.5" Strathmore artboard features pen and ink original art for one-page "A/Gas" comic story by Alex Toth (1928-2006), a cartoonist known for his works in both comic books as well as for his various Hanna-Barbera cartoon character designs. Toth is especially noted for his masterful use of shadow, which is in full display w/the cartoon published in DRAG Cartoons #6 in 1964. Artboard features six panels, showing optimistic drag racer feeling like he's going to win a big trophy as race. His dragster proceeds to do an elaborate series of flips and rolls, crossing the finish line as a wrecked mess. Last panel shows racer being awarded "Best Gymnastics Award" trophy. Bottom right has rear outline of a hot road below "The End." text. Top margin has handwritten "'A/Gas!' One Pager - Artist: Alexander Toth" going one to give his address, all written in red felt tip pen. Artboard has two staple holes at top margin and single pin hole at bottom corners. Art remains clean and Exc. Great example of Toth's art. From the Archives of Publisher Pete Millar.
