10x14-3/8" thick artboard has mixed media original art by prolific and renowned Spanish Marvel Comics cover artist Rafael López Espí. Cover is for the Spanish Ms. Marvel Vol. 1 #9, which reprints Ms. Marvel Vol. 1 #17 and was published in Spain by Mundi in 1979, © Marvel Comics Group. Artboard has been hand-painted from edge to edge w/art showing a scared Ms. Marvel in tattered costume reacting to hand blaster of the advancing Centurion, which matches Marvel's cover art by Dave Cockrum, Terry Austin and Annette Kawecki very closely. Art has two-piece vellum overlay which has extensive handwritten Spanish text (including title at top). Top half remains taped to back of artboard while bottom half (w/attached hand-lettered Spanish story title that translates to "The Shadow Of The Canyon!") has since come loose. Both show wear and aged tape. Back of artboard has handwritten "Ms. Marvel, 9" at top in black felt tip pen. Artboard has some minor corner tip wear and faint scattered staining to white field at top, but o/w art remains bright, clean and VF/Exc. A wonderful example from the era when Espí's art dominated covers of Spanish Marvel comic books, featuring one of Marvel's most popular characters. Superb and dynamic cover art. Comes w/reading copy of the Spanish comic this cover art was created for.
