DescriptionAbsolutely floored to own this one... X-men 106 published in 1977 but drawn back in 1975 as an inventory issue for the new X-men series. Bob Brown was the penciler here but never saw publication as he unfortunately passed away while this sat to be used when series regular Dave Cockrum fell behind. The content of this page is incredible for an X-men fan like me.. the New X-men battling the original X-men... with every mutant in the story accounted for on the page. Wolverine front and center.. still in his psycho early days claws out and all. The other thing I love about this page is how it was reworked to fit the timeline change.. as the 10 issues or so since it was created (this was originally written to fit between 95 and 97) changed the dynamic of the story. Chris Claremont went back and rewrote the story.. and you can see where the original word balloons were , and then whited out. And rumor has it that Dave Cockrum did not like the way Brown drew his main man nightcrawler so went back and redraw the nightcrawlers faces.. and now having this in hand I think the page supports that rumor as every nightcrawler face has white out and a redraw that looks like Cockrums handiwork!! Massive thank you for Gene P for letting this piece of X-men history reside with me.Social/Sharing |

X-Squabble!! I love these pages. They all feel like a callback to the first issues. And Wolvie, always ready to slice and dice. Brown, Sutton and Cockrum? What, they couldn't fit in a few more massive talents? :) Very nice score! Big congrats

Wow, definitely a great page in the history of X-Men, very cool to see this early work and what needed to be altered.
