When I first laid eyes on this piece, it was for sale on Anthonys website and I Immediately called him and put it on my credit card and bought it some 7 years ago.I was thrilled to be able to be the first caller and have it held for me as it was my first "Frazetta".Anthony explained to me he had just got it from the Frazetta family and decided to put it up for sale.
With regards to the signature I had showed this piece to Joe Mannarino then from All Star Auctions and he explained to me that the signature was probably signed by Frank after his stroke with his opposite hand, which made perfect sense to me.He also went on to say that the family was putting everything they could in front of him to sign before his passing...
When I think about the beauty of this piece,I think about my past days of learning color theory as a plein air painter.Franks use of color in this piece is "extraordinary".The rich contrast of warm and cool colors all work together harmoniously and with touches of red as a complimentary match.
I know nothing more other than how I feel about this piece.It's small,it's loose and it's fresh and colorful,and that's what drew me to the painting.Sorry about the white dot,it's a camera flash reflecting off the glass.

A truly beautiful piece, a fragile and subtle watercolor composition that screams Frazetta with every stroke and line! Great pick, of course...
