I'm a huge fan of when the comic and music worlds collide. This was the first of what was meant to be a series of comics to be published in THE SOURCE magazine in the early 2000's. Unfortunately this ended up being the only one that got made.

Writer Dave Elliot shared, Hah! You never saw this story in a Marvel Comic. This two page story was supposed to have been the first of a series of strips in THE SOURCE. Unfortunately they were having financial struggles and this ended up being the only one used. The topic was what if DJ Kool Herc had never made it into the country and his influence on House, Breakbeat and Rap never happened.

The early 2000's was a memorable era of hip hop for me and I was drawn to the cast and great likenesses (Herc, DMX, Snoop, Dre, Lil' Kim, Busta, Slick Rick, Native Tongues, Q-Tip, Chuck D, LL...) in this two page short story. Plus if you were a comic reading kid of the 90's the "What If..." spin brought me back too. Thanks to Jason and Tatiana for sending these my way!
