Description

I�ve been a diehard fan of Jack Kirby�s Fourth World mythology since I was knee-high to a midget and 2021 is the 50th Anniversary of Jack Kirby�s masterwork and I was beyond thrilled to finally add a Kirby Fourth World piece to the collection.

This Pin-up appeared in the hardcover edition of Marv Wolfman and George Perez�s History of the DC Universe hardcover and was pencilled by Kirby and then lightboxed and inked by Steve Rude.

I�ve owned a high resolution copy of the pencils that the Kirby estate put out and this piece was late period Kirby so some of the figure work and rendering was not Jack�s finest but Steve Rude, who�s a master artist in his own right did a fantastic job of respecting the original pencils, clarifying certain details and enhancing the figure work while maintaining the intent and flavor of Jack Kirby.

The end result is all the better for it, you see both Kirby and Rude�s stylistic fingerprints in the final piece and their styles just meshed into a really fantastic piece of work that now sits on my wall.
