DescriptionThis anthology issue features the Emerald Archer in his various incarnations through the years. The story "Star City Star" celebrates the Kevin Smith Quiver Era as it also reunites Phil Hester with Ande Parks. On this second page of the story, Ollie corners one of the punks who works for a casino boss and presses him for details on a kidnapping victim.Love how Hester keeps the panels moving forward with action and the deep blacks and shadows inked by Parks, who came out of semi-inking retirement to do this anniversary story. Shadow in the last panel is one of the most famous villains of the Quiver era who is revealed on the next page. Gotta say it's a real pleasure to see Hester-Parks back again as I loved their take on GA. People forget that Hester wasn't really considered a "super-hero" artist before he and Kevin brought Ollie back from the dead. Now his take on GA is considered the definitive version for kids who grew up in the early 2000s. Bought this at an eBay auction directly from Parks, who was cool enough to include a nice sketch you can see on the second photo. Social/Sharing |
