DescriptionIf you have spent any time checking my gallery, you would realize that my main interest is covers and splashes. I have nothing against panel page art, they generally not what I want to collect. But there are exceptions. Of course a Kirby Cap page might always be an exception, but there is a special reason for this one. The top row of closeups of Steve Rogers receiving three punches is very memorable. Particularly since it is a swipe from his former partner, Joe Simon's Vagabond Prince story from 1947 (see the addition image).Social/Sharing |

The action might be a simple progression through panels, but it's overall effect is anything but simple. Packs a power of unlimted enthusiasm and daring that is only made possible by the confidence of a King!

A swipe, and a transformation! I really enjoy seeing swipes by the greats --- Kirby, Frazetta, Miller, etc. --- to see how they improved the action, design, anatomy, or whatever they excelled at. Kirby's punches really hit hard compared with the page that inspired it, for my taste. That Barram panel steals the show for me, in any case!

Adding a little onomatopoeia can improve any Cap punch. That BARRAM! sent the baddie straight thorough the wall! That is a fantastic Kirby action page. I can see why you broke your splashy style for this one, it's a sweet panel page. I dig how he used the panel structure to emphasize that last panel, going from 3 to 2 to 1 panel. Big congrats!
