DescriptionThis was a 1 shot comic back in 1995. Drawn by the artist and co-creator of the 2099 Spider-Man. In this DPS he recreated the famous pose from Spider-Man 2099 #1 except instead of Miguel O'Hara we have the original Peter Parker.Just a really impressive piece of art in person. Spider-Man is drawn so incredibly huge on the page- its really striking when I put it side by side of any other Spidey art in my collection. I loved the 2099 series when it came out - and would describe it as Batman Beyond before Batman Beyond but in the Marvel Universe. As to Leonardi; I can't imagine a better artist on the title and to have him come back for this crossover was just a perfect choice. Al Williamson is credited as the inker on the cover of the book - but I am not 100% whether or not he inked the insides. If you know for a fact, please share. For what its worth - I love the inks here no matter who did them. Thanks Eric for letting this one go. And thanks everyone so much for looking. Oh and if perchance you own the 2099 dps this was based on and would consider selling it- would love to hear from you. Social/Sharing |

Plenty of "wall power" on this dps! Especially admire the veteran inks here!

Yes, that's about as big of a Spider-Man image that he could fit in there. Great page. Thanks for sharing.

Yesss!!! So freaking cool! Leonardi was meant to draw Spidey. His way of shaping anatomy and ability to push posing works so well with the character. The perspective on the buildings really makes it feel like we are swinging with Spidey too. Love this! Huge congrats!

A spectacular double page spread by the great Rick Leonardi and even greater Al Williamson!

By 1995 Leonardi and Williamson had already left the title with issue 25 in the fall of '94. So a return to it a year later was not out of the question, especially with the issue being an actual story that gives him the credit rather then just a collection of pin ups. Williamson was still winning harvey awards at this stage of his career for this series. Impressively large with 2099 and in this 616 Spidey!

Man! Outstanding, duke, love it! Leonardi's work on this series was some of the best comics work ever - got this future tech setting but balanced with Leonardi's more fluid, organic, art style. Match made in comic art heaven. And Williamson definitely elevated the art with his inks. Perfect stuff, and you got a perfect example. Also a sweet homage to the Spidey 2099 intro DPS back in the preview for issue #1 in ASM 365! HUGE congrats!

Wow, such an epic image! Color me jealous! Not too long ago, I was reading this issue, and when I came to this DPS, I thought "How COOL to be the person that owns this one!" And now YOU are that person! Major congrats man.

You've already got more comments in one day than I did in the 15 years I had this up. I guess people like it better in your gallery than they did in mine. Glad this piece found the right home. Enjoy it with my very best wishes.

Incredible D. Congrats. Could do without the background messing up your male to female ratio though.

I'm right there with you on Spider-man 2099. What a great series, and I love this recreation/homage to the earlier splash. I just love that Spidey pose. You can feel his speed. And, completely random, but the girl in the car seat of that car in the bottom looks like Jubilee. Great find. Congrats!

Absolutely jaw dropping piece! Nostalgia doesn't really play a part in my collecting except when it comes to Spider-Man 2099. I still remember how electrified I was by the gorgeous art of Leonardi and Williamson when I discovered these issues as a kid. Congrats on such an epic pick up! Definitely Williamson inks by the way.
