Description

From the Golden Age of Comics comes the sub-Earth hero called: ROCKMAN!! A hero from Marvel's Timely Comics era, Rockman is the king of a subterranean race living miles beneath the Earth's surface. I first discovered him when he appeared as one of THE TWELVE, a team of Timely heroes that starred in a limited series by that name. Rockman's original comic feature was drawn by Basil Wolverton, as seen here.

For the Heroes Redrawn treatment, I selected a talented artist who's a newbie here to my gallery. LEE FERGUSON, whose past credits include stints of such titles as DC's SUPERGIRL, more than rose to the occasion here, doing a dynamite job of re-envisioning the original art and doing his own interpretation. The whole experience with Lee was a delight. Very reasonably priced, he stays in contact giving updates during the whole process, and delivering the goods in the end. Do yourself a favor and commission something from him. You won't be sorry.

Getting back to Rockman for a bit, I think Marvel it's doing a real disservice to the character by leaving him unused since THE TWELVE ended. As the king of an underground civilization, he could easily be one of the pantheon of king heroes that Marvel is known for. I'm thinking of characters like Black Panther, Namor, and Black Bolt. Plus, being underground, I could see him clashing with characters like the Mole Man, Tyrannus, Grotesk, and an old Avengers foe named Skol, who also has an underground kingdom. Come on, Marvel! Let's see Rockman rock the modern day Marvel Universe!

A nice modern update on a classic hero

The story telling solves a lot of the problems the original had because they relied heavily on the dialogue. However, the original does have those weird panel designs that are stylish.
