DescriptionAs Spider-man went on, it got darker and darker - then you throw in Wolverine - what could go wrong? In this page we have an awesome splashy Wendigo at the top as only the ToddFather can draw (teeth? check, crazy hair, check? Evil eyes - oh yeah). Spidey has a super confused look as he's stuck between Wendigo, Wolverine and the a bad guy that has done terrible things to some kids. Wolverine tasks Wendigo with watching over the bodies, Spidey distracts the mounties and Wolverine, his job: "Mine's to make them pay." (as he puts on his mask. Signed to ken at the bottom and signed by McFarlane. Also at the top it says "OOPS!!" - thanks to CAF member 'H. TE' for pointing out it's because he drew this page upside down on the page. Now I imagine him up against a deadline, grabs a board from a stack and starts drawing, then when he's about to submit it, realizes it's upside down. https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Spider-Man_Vol_1_12 Social/Sharing |

No one did it like Todd. Wow! You can feel the intensity ooozing from the visuals and dialogue. Thanks for sharing!

Obviously after he signed it to Ben he caught a ride with Doc, shot to the future and realized it was going to end up with you and not Ben. Once back in his own time, karate chopped Ben. When Ben went down he snatched it up and quickly wrote oops before Ben picked it up confused and said I can't own a piece from a artist that chopped me down so sold it and it drifted on the winds ever since until it fell into your big strong arms.

Ah - now it all makes sense! ;-)

Another stunner. Wendigo reminds of Spawn Violator a little bit in this panel. I'm thinking the oops is because the page is upside down.

Agree on violator - kind of between venom and violator on the 'McMonster' scale.
Duh - the oops makes sense now, I am so drawn in by the art, didn't notice the upside down page ;-)

Man, Todd was really in his element artistically during this run and this was always among the first books I flipped through on the weekly stops at the LCS if there was Todd art in the stack. Congrats!

Wendigo looks so much like a prototype for his Malebolgia in Spawn as he uses some trademark fleshing out and panel borders. The hapless Spidey face showed that Todd would contort the faces in a cartoony way for comedic moments and the Wolvie also gets a different look midway masking up. Lot of Todd faces done with big time energy as he did not settle for just run of the mill images you'd find before.

Thanks Marcus! Sometimes I ask myself: "If a tree falls in the woods, does it make a sound, and also, if a page is posted on CAF without a comment from Marcus, did that page exist?"

People are going to complain that I comment first like Tim claims stuff real fast, so I'll let the stew simmer a while and try not be the "First" guy.

Dude, I view it as the opposite - a 'first comment -> marcus' is a badge of honor!

A spectacular McSpidey page with a superb Wolverine close-up, fantastic! Similarly, I count myself lucky to have a page from this memorable issue!

A three panel page, each one showing one of the 3 main characters in the story, and each one a head shot. That was clearly done with purpose, not coincidence. I love the wispy lines he used on Wendigo. My favourite of the 3 images? I would have to say I love the Spidey panel most of all, for one simple detail: The rearrangement of the eyes in order to convey Peter's emotion and bring it to life for the reader. Very alluring!

I think they screwed up when they said "Wendigo." Should have been "Wingo!" 😉

Jaw-droppingly cool! The Wendigo, Spidey and Wolvie. Each of them drawn about as well as they can be drawn. McMasterpiece.
