Description

I first saw Matt's Cankor work in George Hage's collection and by the time I got around to trying to read it, It was once again sold out. So reading Cankor remains on my to do list.
After seeing the Dredd piece that Yo Kuri got and the Swamp Thing annual piece that Jason K owns I knew I had to get something from Matt when his list opened up again.

I signed up for cover quality recreation with some vague ideas what to get and found that apparently Matt has a list of covers that he wants to recreate at some point. I think you end up with a better commission if you go for something the artist is into and this Swampy piece appealed to me the most out of those. Swampy may actually be DC's Daredevil with level of talent / consistent good runs for someone who isn't considered a primary character.

The level of detail on this piece and the time that must have gone into it is mind blowing.
Super stoked to have this sick piece!

Everything so natural and organic in how entangled the vines are rendered. They are strong and branchlike to hold up the weight of the two figures. Very lush inks to put focus on the supple body of Abby and the figure of Swamp Thing. It is like a gothic romance novel cover with supernatural, sophisticated suspense of the highest order.
