Description

The peril is obvious from the human skeleton remains littering the rocky floor. But Conan has paused after throwing his sword to deadly effect for his inhuman adversary. Honestly, I never thought I would add art from Gil Kane to my collection. I thought he was a good artist, but his popularity led to higher prices. However this particular splash was particularly appealing both in price and quality. I am not familiar enough with Gil Kane's art to say how much of my fondness of this piece is due to his efforts or those of Luke McDonnell, the other credited penciller. No question about how much I like Zoran Vanjaka's bold inking.

Conan just wanted to help the guy get that stuck piece of lettuce out of his teeth and didn't realize his own strength! Very nice title page!

This is a very strong Gil Kane piece in the way anatomy is drawn with the abs, ribs, and general musculature. The big tell is when you see nostrils. Nostrils are Kane's thing like other people use eyes as the window into the soul.
