DescriptionI remember when I first tried to approach Dale Keown for a commission. A fellow collector told me, “Keep dreaming—Dale never does commissions, never has, and never will. Many have tried before you and failed.”It was 2009, and I said to myself: F#CK it. I’ve never been the kind of guy to take “no” for an answer. I had already bought tons of art from him—some I kept, some I sold (and regretted!). So I thought, why not just ask him directly, respectfully, and see what happens? To my surprise… he said yes. Fast forward four years—I finally received it! The piece was originally meant to be a four-pager with a Red Hulk transformation on the flip side, but he never completed it. Honestly, I was just thrilled to get what he did decide to draw. I didn’t want to push him—I was grateful. Soon after, word got out… and the madness began. Everyone started hitting him up for commissions. He didn’t really do any until around 2012, and even then, most of them weren’t cover-quality like this one. Social/Sharing |

Everything is so intense and aggressive! Unlocking the rage and beast within, Keown digs deep within to find the monster that would find its way onto the page. Every slight. Every rejection. Every disrespect. Every betrayal. Every time someone took their time to make your life miserable. It shows the strain in the sinews and veins as it takes ever fiber of restraint just to remain civilized.

Great story and fantastic transformation piece! I think it worked out better that the other guy didn't get done, haha! Totally kidding (but not really...)!
