Corben is such a master. The key element to the page is the statue and the small dot that hints at a tear coming down her cheek.

A fine page from a great story. Treasure it. They say confession is good for the soul. Do you want to hear something? Last year when the pages which includied this one were previewed with their prices for about a week in advance of the sale on the Richard Corben website I emailed Mrs C some days before the sale proper. Thinking I was going to be locked out again on the day because of the heavy internet traffic on the site I offered to pay her double the asking price for this page if she pulled it. She said no, obviously, because she said it would not be fair. I was disappointed but I had to admire her integrity. I learned a big lesson that day: there are things which are more important than money and [owning] comic art. I did not before and never again will pull a stunt like that. Total and utter respect to Mrs Corben. (And honoured you have put two of my pages in your “Favorite Gallery” section. You’ve taught me a lesson: I guess I might just have enough Richard Corben pages – at least from Camazotz – after all. I shouldn’t be greedy.)
