DescriptionScott Clark and Jim Lee - Stormwatch Illustration Original Art (Image, c. 1990s). The original Stormwatch team of Battalion, Fuji, Diva, Winter, and Hellstrike... plus a plucky little robot pal! Some of the final costumes were slightly different, as this pre-production concept piece was one of the first original team shots. It was created at the very start of Image Comics in ink and marker over graphite and blue pencil on Bristol board with an image size of 15.75" x 10.25". Signed by Jim Lee in the lower left image area.I was always a fan of the original Stormwatch comic books and have gone back and re-read the issues a couple of times. I loved all of the art and always wanted to add one of the pages to my collection. Seeing this item for sale, it was a must have for me. I wanted to get a commission page done for me by Scott Clark, but when I went to reach out to him I discovered he had passed away. Such a great talent. I am lucky and proud to have this original pre-production concept art page in my collection. UPDATE: SEPT-23-2023 At the Cincinnati Comics Expo Jim confirmed that Scott Clark did the pencil’s and he (Jim Lee) inked the page. They were unsure if the page was ever published, but Jim was pretty sure it was at some point in time. Then I went over to Scott Williams to get his autographs on my X-Men books and when he saw the art, he was blown away and then said “no way that’s Jim’s inks”. Scott then said “Come with me”, and we broke in line and he and Jim had a 2-3 minute conversation about the inking, where in the end it was determined it really was Jim’s inking and he just followed Scott Clark’s original pencils. Following that conversation the CGC Authentication team wanted me to get an official COA to enshrine the autograph on the art. A bunch of folks also took photos of the art page. Totally unexpected, but 1000% awesome fun, and worth the price of admission. Social/Sharing |

Fantastic era of Wildstorm Studios when they had to figure out what and how to do things on their own! The energy and will to launch the studio is well represented in groundwork pieces like this.
