Description

After his time renovating the post-Crisis Superman for DC Comics, John Byrne returned to Marvel for projects including She-Hulk and Sub-Mariner. His urbane run was followed by the memorable but shocking barbarian version with art by Jae Lee. By this point in the series, Glenn Herdling was writing a more traditionally heroic Namor, with both pencils and inks by Geof Isherwood, working in a scratchy style similar to his work on Suicide Squad.

In this story, Namor contends with numerous foes at once, some of which are mind controlled by "skullhugger" parasites attached to their scalps. The enemy leader Trieste has just been freed from her skullhugger; unfortunately, it was attached so long that she cannot survive without it, and she dies right here.

That's a nice third panel where the face is seen wavy and elongated like seen through moving current.
