Description

Davis Paul Meltzer (1929-2017) was an extraordinarily fine technical illustrator whose lengthy career included work for NASA, the National Geographic (30 years) and multiple book publishers. Among space art fans, he's particularly well known for his fine cutaway drawings, such as this example.

Gouache, about 11x14, on thin paper mounted to illustration board.

For us Earthlings bound by gravity, I may turn it on its side. However, it does make the point that there is no gravity in space to see the people within the cutouts work in one direction. The piece is well thought out and is painted in a manner we can build upon in our imaginations.
