DescriptionHave been a Joe Quesada fan since the 1990s. His work with Wizard covers, Daredevil, Marvel Knights and of course his creator owned series Ash, always caught my attention. This cover is on the modern side and is inked by the amazing Kevin Nowlan. I first saw this cover 3-4 years ago or so and fell in love. Finally pulled the trigger. Let's just say there was no room for bargaining. As a fan of Dr.Strange and as a sucker for black background covers this was comic art love at first sight. Recently a good friend convinced me to pull the trigger after I mentioned how this cover was still available. Thanks E! As always, thank you for checking out my gallery! Social/Sharing |

Nice with blacks blending into the background and creating such bold shapes and contrast. Great image of the good Doctor.

I'm not the biggest fan of Dr Strange needing weapons BUT this IS a superb cover by two incredible artists. And I'll confess that the transaprency effect on the sword is well done/makes it special. Congrats!

Great art by this unusal bur superb artist team-up, and the image really is "Sword & Sorcery" (rare without muscles and loincloth) :)

Sensational combo, man! Nowlan's inks are a terrific complement to Joe's pencil work!

I love it when the artists allow the black parts of their costumes to blend in with a pitch black background, always makes for a nice effect. I think my favourite part of this is that it's one of those rare exceptions of Nowlan NOT completely overpowering the penciller's style. Very nice!

I've seen Quesada and Palmiotti, I've seen Quesada and Miki. But there's nothing like Quesada and Nowlan. Very effective negative space on the torso here. By the way, is that Valkyrie's sword, or did Strange just have one sitting around in his closet?

Now that's an artist combo I didn't know I needed. Great stuff.

That ink job is so black out, it's like a black hole. Fantastic. It's a simple image of the Doc readying a spell, but with so much great charisma and detail. I really dig Quesada's work, and this is killer. I love that it's almost 11:11. I guess that's the time to cast the spell! Congrats

Black backgrounds are effective, especially when a figure's costume also contains black. At first I wondered why Dr. Strange needed a sword, until I noticed the sword is transparent. So a magic sword. Congrats.

I love the contrast in this one so much. The black and white works so perfect for Dr. Strange. Huge congrats!

Quite mystifying and a combination for the ages. Both are hallnof famers in their own right.

Must look great in person with those super dark inks, both in terms of the fine lines on Strange as well as the background and black parts of his costume. Love his expression, too, doing some spellbook perusing while holding that CLEAVER :) Quesada/Nowlan make a dynamic duo! Congrats!
