DescriptionNot the first piece by the Argentinian master I've acquired ;)But the very first cover for sure! In fact, I initially thought it was an illustration or a personal work, but it turned out to be a published cover (Swamp Thing # 18 - DC Vertigo, 2004 series). The image is definitely striking and the technique used by Breccia is something I've never seen before in comic art: he literally carved the paint to obtain a multidimensional effect and a totally unique texture, which however is almost completely lost in the published version and in my picture as well. Never as in this case it's true that you must hold the art in your hands to fully appreciate it! 😊 Again many thanks to Claudia at segnidisegni.net! It's like an engravers work for the most disturbing minted coin ever made. I love it! Breccia really mixes fine art technique and style into his comic work as much as anyone else in the biz, imo. And the disturbing Swampy image he comes up with...There were some wonderous weirdos on the title before him, and he distilled it to its essence. Sweet cover. Congrats!

Amazing that the scraping didn't cross any colors over, might have been done when the paint was dried out somewhat. It's out of the box and wild like the nature of the character.

I think he first applies a thick coat of white paint and he scrapes it while it's still wet. Then, when the white has dried, he can paint over it with the colors.

Io ho il n.17 e posso capire quello che hai detto, queste copertine vanno toccate con mano, sono stupende, e secondo me anche la scelta del formato piccolo è azzeccata!
