DescriptionThis is a great example of the joys of collecting original comic art.I was first made aware of this cover when an artist (I sadly don't remember who) brought it up in an article from Wizard, when they listed out their favorite covers and this, of course, was one of them. I had never seen it before so then began the hunt through back issues from my LCS. I was so excited when I finally found the issue (the joy of the hunt fulfilled!) and it's been in my comic collection ever since. Fast forward to present and I saw this cover being put up for auction, I knew that I was going to have to make a play for it. I am ecstatic to add it to my collection. The piece is a great depiction of Batgirl in my opinion, especially with Kevin's great detailwork (look at those bricks!). The colors that he chose within the cool tones palette (with that gradation to show off the spotlight) really infuse the piece with a certain feeling - that feeling of crawling around the dingy Gotham rooftops and being suddenly caught in the spotlight from a GCPD police blimp. The image is so moody and fully realized that seeing the white border is a little shocking. It takes you right into the world of that rooftop. And the expression on her face! Usually I'd want to see more of the character's eyes, but here it's exactly right. Mega congrats- this is a gem.

There isn't enough painted pieces out there by Kevin - clearly a true master and this is easily one of his best pieces. So many detaild to drink in. Not jealous at all...

Wondered who the lucky winner was. I've been privileged enough to have seen this in person with the previous owner. Congrats on being able to add it to your collection. One of Kevin's finest works.

Predominantly a Marvel guy, this is one of the only DC Comics I purchased the year it came out. Hmmm... I wonder why?

It's a classic spotlight cover and Nowlan's paints shows a complete mastery of the medium creating a stunning Batgirl different than what has come before. It is stylish and cool with a pose that is a bit awkward like a young girl would figuring out a stance, but with plenty of spitfire and fight.

This is just a stunning piece of work by Nowlan and one of my favourite pieces to see in that auction. It's great to know you won it after that anecdote about seeking out the comic years ago. Congrats, well done!

Oh this is a winner! He perfectly captured the pose. There's so much dynamism and movement which is really hard to achieve in a tightly rendered image. I love this! Congrats!
