Description

This was the first big 2 work I remember seeing from Bill. I was already a HUGE fan of the Elementals so it was great seeing him on this book too. And what a fantastic story.

The book had a range of inkers so I'm not sure who inked this page.

I'm not the biggest Guy Gardner fan in the world EXCEPT when it comes to the Giffen/DeMatteis version. The first panel is all you need to know to see why. On top of that, several panels of Batman and glimpses of Dr Fate and J'ohnn and I was instantly sold.

Yeah, I also was excited to see Willingham come off of Elementals and suddenly be doing an Annual of a big title. I also wouldn't call myself a "fan" of Guy Gardner as a hero, but due to this series, I do like him as everyone else's favourite punching bag! The inks on this page are by Dennis Janke, btw.

I also enjoyed Willingham's work at DC on mainstream characters after his work on Elementals! Congrats on a really nice example of his work!

Great page from this era of Justice League. I love the range of facial expressions and especially the Batman image in the lower right panel.
