Description

Really enjoyed the Hawkeye Disney+ series! I'm excited to add this Kate Bishop origin story page to my collection. Art by Ramon Perez on 11" x 14" thick watercolor paper. The story was written by Jeff Lemire (creator of Sweet Tooth). Ramon illustrated the present time and flashback scenes differently so they could easily be distinguished. For the flashbacks Kate Bishop is drawn entirely in pencil and everything else is in grey toned watercolours. This style really makes Kate image pop off the page. But unfortunately the scan doesn't do it justice. Looks much more impressive in person!

Thoughout issue 6 of All-New All-Different Hawkeye, the story flashes back to a pivotal moment that shapes young Kate's future. This scene is the original comic book version of the opening intro to the Disney+ show.

A young Kate discovers her dad works with bad people. If that's not enough she gets captured for ransom by the villian Matador. Kate makes a failed attempt to escape but thankfully at the last moment she is saved by Hawkeye and the Avengers team. After witnessing first hand the spectacular feats Hawkeye can accomplish with just a bow and arrow. Kate's destiny begins to take shape.

Nice to see the original and how they achieved the final look putting various shades of colors to convey mood to these already dreamlike flashback pages.
