DescriptionCampbell's work on Spider-Man from 2006 - 2012 felt exceptionally special. He had recently signed an exclusive contract with Marvel for a storyline with Jeph Loeb (one that kept getting pushed back and out of continuity – and eventually cancelled). There was a hunger in him for the entire Spider-Man universe. To tide fans over, we'd get sketches, commissions, a few covers, and prints – all of which would eventually end up in his sketchbooks. Every rendering he did of these characters was done with a little extra love. Even though he never touched interiors (minus the 2 issues that exist somewhere in the halls of Marvel), it feels like he's been a generational artist on the character(s).This particular Gwen, to me, is the best Gwen he has ever done. Her face is gorgeous, her wide-eyes are innocent and inviting, the rain creates a mood, the reflection in the puddle is wonderfully executed. Then you have all of that pencil shading. AND the Spider-Man image in the background? It's simply incredible. Thanks for letting me be the new caretaker Ron. Social/Sharing |

Gorgeous! That is a really beautiful Spider-Man cover. When it comes to drawing stunning women, J. Scott Campbell is second to none.

Wow, a true JSC feast for the eyes! Prime example of his Gwen - I love that kind of longing look, in the rain. And that subtle muted Spidey in the background is a great closing touch. Congrats!
