PHIL DAVIS - Mandrake the Magician Sunday Comic Strip Original Art - 1939
The penultimate episode of the story arc "The City of Gold" features the always dapper Mandrake running from an erupting volcano and a sinking island.

Un bel pezzo storico del fumetto mondiale, Mandrake è stato un personaggio amatissimo in Italia, tutti ricordiamo il termine "mandrakata"! Questa tavola è tratta dal penultimo episodio dell'arco narrativo "The City of Gold" è presenta il sempre elegante Mandrake ed il forzuto Lothar che scappano da un vulcano in eruzione e da un'isola che sta per affondare. Questo è uno dei periodi migliori di Davis dove poter ammirare la sua meravigliosa inchiostrazione da grande illustratore, soprattutto su queste domenicali di grandi dimensioni.
