DescriptionTorment part 4/5 published Jan 1990. Large artWho can forget this book/arc? Todd was finally unleashed to write/pencil/ink 100% and he really went crazy breaking every comic convention he could get his hands on. Here's a prime example. It's the title page, which is always... a Splash page - hero swinging into action, maybe a hint of a bad guy... Nope, Todd decides to pull us into the story with an unconventional 5 very tight vertical panels. We're finally getting a glimpse, a hint of who is pulling the strings. We see animal prints and features. Is it Kraven? No it...can't be?! DOOM Thanks to Bill Cox for hosting/creating/ideating Comic Art Live and to Max who decided to use that opportunity to change caretakers of this awesome page where it will now live in the McSpidey vault next to 4 of it's companions from SM #4. Eager for action for hot McFarlane
The coming attraction, the drop with Todd’s name
Todd knew all the right people, he had all the right skills
Bill threw art claimy parties, Scot paid heavenly bills
There were lines of the horror, inked Kraven’s face
He wrote to put us on notice, he was caught up no delays
Drew every evening, until it was light
He was too tired to make it, Pete was too tired to fight about it
(Life of McFarlane) Spidey make you lose your mind
(Life of McFarlane) yeah
(Life of McFarlane) every page, all the time
(Life of McFarlane) a-ha

McFarlane's work on Torment was so breakthrough that it still resonates after all these years! Love this opening splash with the five vertical slits, each a view into a different character/place. It was different, innovative and totally cool!

I sold my copies of the comics as I thought the story sucked. The art was nice.

Vertical panel title page glory from one of the most epic stories in Spider-Man history. Really appreciate being able to see original pages like this on CAF. Thanks & Congrats McSpidey!
