Jim Lee & Scott Williams just blew me away with this one! Jim Lee has been on my want list forever, but in a vague, directionless form. That all changed when I saw this on Albert's site, and it turns out that like Byrne & Simonson doing Kirby characters, that was my answer for Jim Lee as well. Sure, I love Lee's X-Men & Batman as much as anybody, but seeing Lee & Williams reimagine Kirby's first Kamandi cover was just too cool�here's to Command D!

I tried to get a decent scan, but ended up just going with Albert's 'cause his was simply better (thx Albert!). I added my scan so you can be the judge.

Lee & Williams paying homage to Kamandi and The King. That's really an amazing piece to have!

Excellent choice for your first Lee/Wiiliams. I think the fact that it's not a Hush page or an X-page, makes it that much more special and unique. The boys did a great job on honoring The King with this one.

A modern interpretation of the Kamandi #1 cover puts Kamandi center stage and the Statue of Liberty back along with the powerful waves and Kirby krackle. With influences of Planet of the Apes, the last boy on Earth was a favorite of Kirby's fans who wanted more offbeat stories.
