Description

"Han Solo at Stars' End"
December 1980

This is a comic strip that was based on the novel of the same name by Brian Daley. It was adapted by Archie Goodwin and illustrated by Alfredo Alcala in 1980. It also nearly ended up being the last Star Wars newspaper comic to be written.It was published by Los Angeles Times Syndicate.

In January 1981, the LA Times dropped the Star Wars strip, citing lack of interest. The Star Wars Fan Club wrote a letter of protest on the subject, which convinced the LA Times to allow the strip to continue,beginning with The Bounty Hunter of Ord Mantell.

This beautiful strip is a present from my parents. The central panel catches the eye!

Alfredo Alcala's art is very exquisite taking into account all the great fantasty sci-fi influences Star Wars was built upon and applying those traditions to the strip. The Millenium Falcon is its own character and brings thrills with its mere presence.

Daley, Goodwin, Alcala... that is an all-star signature block right there. And a solid strip with a great Falcon panel. Congrats!
