DescriptionI was a Marvel guy all my life. But this last half year something changed. I remembered, before I got my first Marvel comics, before I could even read, there was this first Superman movie special edition book (1978) with pictures from the movie, some comic strips and a lot of words I couldn’t read. The book was my cousins and I found it at my grandmas house. It may be a nostalgic feeling, or the anniversary of collecting comics for 30 years and exploring something new, but I got an urge get myself aquatinted with Superman and his history. One year ago if one told me that I would by one day a Superman page I would have said: Never. Right now the Superman bug bit me, and right now, imo Superman is the greatest superhero which ever existed. This page features no action but the hero with his two love interests. Love the last two panels. Inker Leonard Starr is an interesting person. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leonard_Starr Among other things he wrote the bible for TV’s ThunderCats and was also for some time the head writer for this show. And who doesn‘t love the ThunderCats…. 😁 Social/Sharing |

Very nice work on the eyes, eyebrows and eyelashes that are very pretty on Lois and very strong for Superman.

I can't get over what a beautiful artistic combination John Byrne and Leonard Starr (of all people!) make. It's like seeing Byrne through an entirely different set of eyes, almost. The inking in that last panel is wildly inspired, and sublime. I would never, ever have thought of inking Superman that way.
