DescriptionHappy Friday CAF'ers! I'm excited to share this one as it really punches me in the nostalgia feels - hard.X-Men 100 was a great story - you probably remember the cover - traditional x-men on the left, 'all new x-men' on the right with ProfX in the middle with this over the top red arrow: "X-Man vs. X-Man in a battle to the death -- betrayed by professor X!!" Wow, who wouldn't want to read that? Well, I did - got it off a spinner rack if I recall. This was huge because the new x-men were just introduced in Giant Size X-men in April of 75. This issue came out about a year later when we were still just getting to know this new team and now they are battling the old team -wow! For those of us in the OA world, this page is classic "Cockrum 1st run" goodness and we get the rare 'Cockrum on Cockrum' inks and pencils. I'm really excited to put this page into the McSpidey vault and help round out my X-men collection by checking the OG Cockrum box. In this page we are smack in the middle of the action. Panel 1 - Bep! Nightcrawler leaps out of the way of the OG Beast Panel 2 - Nightcrawler takes the high ground and they trash talk Panel 3 - OG Beast does some acrobatics and starts a roundhouse... Panel 4 - kick (WOK!) that in the middle panel sends Nightcrawler flying ("Unngnhn!") into... Panel 5 - OG Cyclops. Panel 6 - Nightcrawler hasn't caught on that this isn't 'his' Cyclops and OG Cyclops uses that confusion to Panel 7 - Blast nightcrawler. Social/Sharing |

Theres a guy clinging to a wall. Well, it is McSpidey. Quelle surprise. God, wait a minute, Peter Parker has grown a tail and teeth and changed his name to Kurt Wagner?...I thought this was McSpidey, not McXey.

You can jiggle some letters around and make it McSpideystarwarssexy or even better, Starwarsexy. Ditch Spidey. Star Wars is more popular. Still waiting for a good person to play Spidey on screen. Someone who has that many gorgeous ladies chasing him has got to offer more than the weasel faced wimps who have played him. Having said that, the ladies on screen have been decidely average too. John Romita Senior must have guffawed. I know I did when I saw who they got to play Mary Jane and Gwen. Romita drew too well and too beautifully.

Great page! You can certainly feel Dave's love for Nightcrawler in this page!.... and I love the way they handled the inks on all the dark costumes.

Once you leave Mac, you can't go back?
Nightcrawler vs Beast is the dream battle to show how these similiar types of X-Men match up! Lousy Cyclops always getting in the way. What a battle page by Dave Cockrum with big time action beats that can't be beat!

Thanks - I'm getting that a lot now. When I have > 80 X-men pages, I'll pivot ;-). Still a lot of wood to chop

A lot of very expensive wood to chop based on your likes. You may need to 'downsize.' to raise funds. Sell a few Spideys and see how long it takes you to flip, metaphorically speaking, as you see some of your 'babies' depart.

BAMF! I don't know if it can get any better when it comes to a page packed with Nightcrawler, and it's from a milestone issue! Huge congrats!

Congratulations, Mr. Fan (if that's your real name), on going outside your "namesake" collecting parameters and getting a primo Cockrum X-Men page from a famous issue, (well, admittedly, just about every issue from that original run is famous to one degree or another). Cheers!
