David Mack + Psylocke = Absolute Beauty Expressed In Art Form

Finally posting a piece from David Mack. This was obtained from him at Comic Con 2022. Someone ahead of me was thumbing through his original art, which we’ve done a few times in the past, just haven’t had the chance yet til end of con, this year. I saw this piece go by rather quickly in an instant and anxiously awaited my turn as they were looking elsewhere at his other work. There were a bunch of people all around his booth also waiting to get a chance to have a Mack original by end of con and there was only about two hours left for this con. Once I saw it go by a second time, I bravely told the current customer to just hand that one over as I knew instantly that I was going to purchase it. Didn’t need to think about it, it was mine.

Seeing it in natural light, not the con light makes the piece that much more vibrant and beautiful. I knew at some point I would get a Psylocke Mack piece after what I saw him do in Ronin (X-Men) years back. His style, posing, and simpler detail work plays so well for Psylocke’s softer features, as opposed to her mind energy exploding out from her. The purples and pinks easily signify what we instantly recognize Psylocke for. Her swords drawn, ready to pounce or be on guard for whatever may be needed from this telepathic ninja; far from the English model that she used to be. This makes me think it’s more Kwannon Psylocke warrior assassin than Betsy Braddock team leader.

Now it happily lives in my Psylocke collection.

Wow! It seems to be awesome watercolor day here on CAF. This is at least the second fabulous watercolor piece I've seen today. Love Mack's take on this character. And the color palette here is wonderful. Congrats buddy!

One of Mack's recent best, IMO! Love her slightly tilted up head, those eyes, and that background. Winning image all around. Congrats, James!

WOW - what an incredible and stunning piece of work. The color palette is amazing, and the composition and execution unmistakably David Mack. The details on her face are flawless. Gorgeous piece, James - landing this one must have been a true triumph! Sincere congrats!
