DescriptionMonolith Games ran a successful kickstarter to create an advanced role playing board game titled Gotham City Chronicles, which features amazing art, mini statuettes for heroes, villains, and others (e.g. civilians), and has now gone on to its third season. This piece was created as a promotional illustration for the initial season which was released in 2021. Batman is prominently featured, perched on a gargoyle, with Catwoman crouched behind, surveying the city in what you can only imagine is planning for the next big move. It features a panoramic view of the Gotham cityscape, and the sheer depth and detail is stunning. The cars on the bridges are ant-like, and the perspective really helps you appreciate the size of Gotham as a metropolis. The GCPD dirigibles are a nice touch and, combined with the varied blues color palette, give it a noir feel. The attention to detail is obvious everywhere, from the way the cape is flowing in the wind, to the detailed shading and shadowing on the buildings. Pictures really do not do it justice. This stunning piece was drawn and painted by Italian artist Enrico Marini, and it is also my first piece by him (and what a piece!). It was used as a promotional ad on the DC website to promote the game at the end of 2021 (second image in this posting). It is a large piece, measuring approximately 27.5" X 14", on heavy art paper. It is accomplished in pencil, ink, and paint, and Marini has even made available several videos showing the process of creating this piece (which is pretty incredible to watch!). Signed and dated by Marini under the gargoyle. This is a piece I would love to see as a giant banner or even a wraparound cover! And on that note, I did just discover that this is also published as a 4-part cardboard Game Master Screen that is included with Season 3 of Gotham City Chronicles. Social/Sharing |

This gives Gotham so much character as a city and the vantage point from above is putting us right there with what Batman and Catwoman oversees.

Not often that Bruce and Selina play second fiddle but I'd hae to say Gotham is the feature here, no offense :) I'm sure you've pored over it lots, and I LOVE that it's all done in tones of blue. Exquisite stuff from Marini. Congrats!
