X OF SWORDS, PART 1

A tower. A mission. A gathering of armies.

Really pleased to pick this up, a great page from a great comic book!

As you may know, Pepe Larraz's run on X-Men has come to an end and it's just been revealed that he has joined Mark Millar on something called "Big Game", due out next year. With Pepe on art duties, I am sure many people will take a look, which of course was Millar's objective in signing up Pepe, as well as Jorge Jimenez from DC on another project.

However, like many people I was delighted to hear that Pepe will still be doing work for Marvel as well, and I gather the same applies to Jimenez with DC, the Big Two apparently allowing temporary carve-outs from their excusive deals with their top talent for specific work-for-hire projects, according to Bleeding Cool's sources. Phew!

Dammit. I hate how good he is with digital art. He really finishes the page wonderfully. Congrats!

He crafts the page to look like traditional art with zip and brings great stategic panels to communicate space and characters.

Great Summers/Grey family panels. Larraz's work is quite beautiful in capturing moments, love the decision to see bits and pieces of Cable running through the gate, view from behind the gate in top panel. Always lots of fun things that draw the eye in.
