DescriptionHere we have a wonderful page from the end of the end. Morpheus has been captured again - this time in the body of a dead Native American. Meanwhile, Dr Destiny has jumped back in time into Shakespeare's body as he tries to unravel the mystery of Christopher Marlowe's death, which is a key to unlock the power of Darkseid's Omega Beams. Bringing Sandman into the DCeased continuity is a master stroke!Sorry, spoiler alerts! Social/Sharing |

Lol nice page. Think your continuity is a bit mixed up though! :)

This is beautiful, and not your first Vess Sandman page either! You are posting quite the proper Sandman countdown this week. Respect.

Spoilers! This page is key as it sets up the part where Doctor Manhattan appears in the inn and gives Shakespeare the power to see time in a non-linear fashion.

Is this series any good? Should I read it?

I've always LOVED Charles Vess on ANYTHING he does in the comic book world. The Sandman certainly seems like a perfectly suited world for his illustrative approach to comics. A lovely page. But, I just got my copy of the DCeased TPB a few days ago and haven't had time to read it yet. Thank you for spoiling that detail and THEN mentioning it's a spoiler. 😟

You know Destruction, Desire, Destiny and Sandman
Despair, Delirium, Death from Neil Gaiman
But do you recall
The most famous Endless of all?
William "wrote X-Men" Shakespeare
Mutants only DC knows
And if you ever sonnet
You would even read his poems
Page of the Charles Vess Shakespeare
Used MacBeth and Shrew would Tame
Chuck never let poor Cyclops
Vertigo in Shakespeare's plays
Then one Midnight Summer's Dream
Sandman came to say
"Cyclops, with your eyes so bright
Won't you Henry VI tonight?"
Then how the Shakespeare loved him
As he shouted out with Dream
"ML the Sandman buyer
You'll go down in history"

Brilliant Vessian cross-hatching - lots of era-accurate smoke and shadows - and panel three's Shakespeare is show-stoppingly delicious. I just now realized that Sandman #75 is probably the issue I think of most often when I think of The Sandman. Huh. Must be all the backstory on the Omega Beams. Congrats on another breathtaking addition, M L! Superb!
