DescriptionWhat a treat to add Fabio Moon to my Cap collection.I was introduced to the work of Fabio and his brother many years ago when I grabbed a copy of De: Tales off the shelf. It’s been a pleasure to watch them both grow as artists and writers since then, with Daytripper being a highlight for me. An absolutely splendid story that sits with you long after you close the book. Now, other than a handful of convention sketches and one AMAZING Dark Knight Returns commission here on CAF, it seems there’s not much of his work out in the wild. So, I was pretty surprised when Cadence Comic Art announced they would be taking a cover quality commission list for Galaxy Con, including an option for those who couldn’t go to the show itself. As soon as I saw the note, I was determined to get on that list. Fabio is an immense talent, and the samples Cadence showed (most of which I’d never seen before) were masterpieces of composition and negative space. Hopefully Fabio will draw commissions more regularly in the future, but I didn’t want to miss out on this rare opportunity in case he doesn’t. I know it’s cliche, but the scan doesn’t do this one justice. While the composition is brilliant from a glance, there’s elements that rivet the eye in person and keep it lingering long after it could have moved on. The up lighting on the top of Cap’s uniform, for example, is one area I keep staring at and admiring. And maybe it’s the fact Bucky’s face is almost dead center in the piece, but something about the line work of the face and hair demands extra attention as well. ASK THE ARTIST: Why this scene? I asked Fabio and he said "Winter Soldier was my favorite MCU movie with Cap, and if I can draw a scene with a nice story instead of just a cool pose, I think I'm more inspired and end up doing a better job." Incredible cinematic scene needing a well thought out composition to present a mid shot that does justice to all the set design as well as being able to showcase Moon's artistry.

Such a great and fully realized commission. I love the design of the background elements here. I sadly missed out on the commission opportunity this last round. Congrats!

Congrats on a beautiful commission! I've always wanted a piece by Fabio and/or his brother but never could figure out what the subject would be (outside of something from Daytripper). Nice to see Fabio tackle a narrative scene commission.
