DescriptionSooo… Excalibur was one of my favorite comics when I was a kid.. it was the first X-men spin off I bought off the rack and it was a continuation of the story of some of my favorite characters… Nightcrawler Kitty Pryde and Phoenix… it was also so refreshing after all the darkness in the X-men world. Claremont and Alan Davis where in perfect synergy on the title . Claremont was having fun and the art team of Davis and first Paul Neary and later Mark Farmer where perfect for the stories and characters . Davis is just a master of his craft and this page shows it.. not only is it an important page in the story but he pours it all out on the center panel of the X-men! This page checks the obvious box of a page from the origin of the Excalibur team but also has that full panel of the X-men of the time . So I get a Davis pink Psylocke (yay!) Mohawk storm and wolverine claws out! Perfection!Social/Sharing |

This is from the special that came before issue one of the regular series and the page is one of the great highlights of the book with her X-Men team by Davis and Neary. It gets us following Shadowcat's story and will lead us to her new team.

So much amazing stuff to look at on this page...Davis was the perfect artist for this book, and his passion for the project was evident in the final product.

Alan Davis drawing the X-Men during this era--particulalry in a classic Claremont nightmare-ish scenario--is a special kind of magic. From Kitty to Storm to Wolvie to Havok, these are my favorite versions of these characters. And those Neary inks! Davis has worked with some great inkers but the chunky, fluid line of Neary remains my favorite. Beautiful page!

This is truly an epic page from a great comic, huge congrats on this beauty. Featuring the X-Men lineup and so many great panels in this mockery of an X-Men movie feature.

Excalibur rising! The sword is drawing! Great page from the special, man, with so many OG X characters featured in panel 5. Way for Claremont/Davis/Neary to start off a super memorable run. Congrats!
