DescriptionImmonen is one of my favorite modern artists and this cover really packs a punch with Spidey and his X-friends in a veery cool pose/composition.I believe, for the USM series, the covers are all digitally inked, so this is pencils only. I have some loose Bagley USM pages, this Immonen page is much much tighter and darker as the scan illustrates. I saw this page in Europe and liberated it back to the USA. Color version in alt images. A great diverse cast for an Ultimate cover up to that point! The entire run of USM had pencil covers from the start. They were very loose in the beginning, but became more detailed as the series evolved. A great one by Immonen and rarely seen all pencil work by him.

That is some beautiful pencil work, and what a great cast of characters! You are correct in that almost all the USM covers were pencils only. There are a few fully inked ones --- for sure issues 154 & 157-159, and I only know this cuz I own them. :)
But I think one of the charms of this title (first under Bagley and then Immonen) is the multitude of tightly penciled covers that resulted. Congrats on this gem!

Great cover, Scott! Love the uneven / sloped surface here, and how it adds such a cool energy to the layout. We've known this for years and years, but Stuart's mutant power is (obviously) perfectly capturing the story in each moment he draws, and what a treat to see his raw pencils. Really great work! Congrats, McSpidey Fan!
