Description

My first commission by Jamaican artist and upcoming superstar Davi Go: Peter's (girl)friends Mary Jane & Gwen, having fun!

As Davi said it himself - the goal was for this piece to ooze "good vibes" & make the beholder "feel like dancing". To just join in with these two friends at a party.

The style he went with embraced the idea of a vintage photo without a filter. A clear look at a time where both of them are happy - a long while ago - and that's being reflected in the fashion choices, too. We have Gwen in 60s attire, while MJ sports 70s clothing. We also spot the not so subtle, but not overbearing link to Spider-Man. The focus clearly is on MJ & Gwen having fun here.

I'm also happy to add that this piece was highlighted and talked about in the Comic Art Live Spotlight on Davi back in February 2022. I'll take it as the best of compliments when someone like Jiggy Cruz from Next Comic Art absolutely regretted that this was a commissioned piece (and he could not buy it for himself).

This commission is 9x12 in size & was done in colored pencils, which adds some great texture effects to this piece.

Davi Go Go Go dancers! It has a bit more 70's fashion with MJ's bell bottoms, but their hips transcend time.
