Description

This is the final page from the first Kelly Green graphic novel, written by Leonard Starr and illustrated by Stan Drake. Initially serialized in France in Pilote magazine, the stories were later published in English in graphic novel form by Dargaud International. Four graphic novels in the series were eventually published in the US. Those four volumes plus a fifth story were repackaged into a single collection by Classic Comics Press in 2015.

The first graphic novel introduces the titular Kelly Green, a police detective’s wife, who agrees to act as a blackmailer's "go-between" in order to learn more about the circumstances surrounding her husband Dan’s murder. A few more killings and several shots of Kelly in various states of undress later, the truth about Dan's death is finally revealed. Kelly appears in every panel on this page, although Drake used stats for parts of the last four panels, as he was frequently known to do. The third panel is a stunner, and the dialogue in the last two panels provides the perfect close to the story.

The tear is the focal point of the whole page as it reaches a place you thought not possible. The camera then pulls back to show how small it is in the grand scheme of things, yet still very powerful.

Seething close up in panel 3. Aim the camera from the helicopter then pull away. Brilliant!
