Description2-2020...Always wanting a Jack Kirby piece, I bought this great one from Romitaman. The Kamandi storyline (like all of Kirby's works) is quite impressive and this piece has so many great elements. Kamandi and Dr. Canus in each panel, Kirby hands, and an awesome UFO(!) all in a great 6 panel composition.Social/Sharing |

Kirby must be the greatest storyteller of his time in American comic books--strips is another matter--unless it's Carl Barks. I give it to Kirby for the broader swath across genres, not too mention space and time. This page is a perfect case in point. Each panel makes a perfect, and thrilling, visual point in seamless harmony with his unparalleled stream of narrative invention. No writer-artist team could achieve this perfect blend of text and image. Like many Kirby pages from the '70s, it's a masterpiece.

Thank you Aaron N! Your comments captured my thoughts exactly when I first laid eyes on the page! Though it is quite a tall order finding a page by Kirby that couldn't be considered a masterpiece that enthralls the reader/viewer =)
