DescriptionHere is the other vintage piece I 'stumbled' across when doing the art picks with Bill. I got a bit lucky with this one, as I was the second person to claim, but the initial customer was overseas and the Euro tanked so I got an opportunity. What else can one say other than THE DREAM TEAM! Bissette and Totleben during their first collaboration, and Swampy rolling (literally) through the action. You've got your era-staple damsel in distress and a big, ugly monster. Bissette's marvelous figures and Totleben's graceful inking allow a lot of communication through body language, and when Moore takes over writing 4 issues later, it's easy in hindsight to see how that partnership was the perfect one for Moore's humanization of the creature. When I pulled the page out to write this post, I found a plethora of new facets to enjoy about it. That initial image of Mallory being thrown across the panel is brilliant. Like the Brave and the Bold page, this is also from 1983. Do you believe in Fate, Jim? Social/Sharing |

Very nice! I will try to roll in "Begone women" in at least three conversations with the wife today!

You really need to say "Begone, Woman" to her or you will really have some explaining to do.

Epic. It almost reads like a movie reel in those final 7 panels. So cool!

A wonderful looking page from what is arguably the greatest penciller/inker collab at DC of the 1980's and possibly even beyond.

Love the sense of movement from panel to panel as well as in-panel. Those lines within the figures showing said movement? Sublime stuff. Congrats, M!
