Description

Here is an unpublished story, likely set for Sensation Comics #83 or #84 (DC 1948/1949) featuring Little boy Blue and the Blue Boys with art by Jon L. Blummer. LBB debuted in Sensation Comics #1 and stayed in the book all the way up through issue #82 (Oct. 1948). This and some other pages show that additional stories were already done when DC decided to move on from the series.

Amazing that this survived. This may have been held in inventory forever as they would rather destroy them instead letting Blummer take the art somewhere else to be printed. Maybe Little Boy Blue and Blue Boys saved it like they did this letter. Maybe.

I love the metaphorical splash here, with the tug of war over the letter to the District Attorney. It reminds me a bit of Eisner's Spirit where he would create a symbolic scene that represented what the story was about. I always thought that was one of the cool quirks of Golden Age Comics.

How cool

I was fortunate to see two beautiful unpublished (written off) golden age Black Canary splash pages in 1969 that have never come to market. Great to see this emerge!
