Description

As Nate put it in 2021 "In my happy place thanks to the bad boyz of Brood X— this adorable little armada last appeared in 2004, as I was writing Swallow me whole amidst a major low point in life, and during the loss of my 3 remaining grandparents. I owe these cicadas the sense of homecoming & continuity from their ever-present song, which has always helped this Southern boy feel a sense of lifelong continuity. Through them, I was able to lend voice and dignity to Ruth’s situation in Swallow me whole".
