Cain by Shawn McManus.

Love the image of Cain by McManus. Cain former host of The House of Mystery makes an appearance in Elvira's House of Mystery. The series was a follow up of sorts to the original series, with famed horror movie hostess Elvira, Mistress of the Dark hosting it.

2022 wasn't just me getting back into commissions, it was also the year to take down pieces that I've procrastinated about. This is one such piece. I've admired this piece for a few years now but never made the leap to buy it. After commissioning Shawn, I felt I needed to add this piece to my collection.

Part of the framing sequences between stories. It's the only page by Shawn in the book. He didn't even do all the art on the page, only the Cain image. Great image of Cain from House of Secrets. Beautiful inks.

Elvira would have been great if McManus put as much work into her as he did on this stellar Cain piece! The smile and the eyebrows captivate the audience!

WHOA! This is PRIME McManus from the mid 80's! He was still doing his Wrightson inspired stuff and it is glorious! While I normally would find myself wishing the Elvira art was included just so you'd have the complete art as published, in this case the Cain art is so far superior that the Elvira figure would only distract from it and not in a good way. Congrats on this beauty!
