DescriptionBatman (Vol. 1) #677 Title DPS (Pages 2 & 3) Original Art (July 2008). This is the second issue in the R.I.P. storyline, which was written by Grant Morrison and illustrated by Tony S. Daniel. This run also was the first run on the mainline title that Alex Ross was given the reigns to the primary covers, with Tony S. Daniel doing the variant covers. This story arc focuses on Black Glove and his assembled Club of Villains and had several companion storylines in other titles (e.g. Heart of Hush in Detective Comics). If you follow me you know that I pretty much only collect covers, so owning a DPS of any sort is highly unusual for me. Given that I own both covers for this book, I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to buy this. The image of Batman over a goon in the sewer alone is cover quality. Batman embodies terror and vengeance, and this is the perfect depiction of that. I would not want to be the dude on the other side! I love the added effects of water splashing, and the small pop up panels showing Gordon and the GCPD watching. The silhouette of Batman with the shadow behind is also a nice touch. I really love the composition and the framing here, and I am thrilled to own this piece! Sandu Florea's inking job is incredible and really adds some incredible depth and detail to the entire image.Accomplished in ink over graphite on 2 taped together 11" X 17" art boards, for a total size of 22" X 17". Signed by Tony in the bottom right margin. I am also fortunate to own the Alex Ross main cover painting and Tony S. Daniel variant cover for this book, so check out those listings as well! The camera level of the main image is what makes this look as powerful as it does along with Batman's angry face and the cape flying up.

Such a powerful DPS. Every time I see an image of Batman standing victorious over a foe who's been beaten down mercilessly it reminds me of the classic scene from DKR after he pummeled the mutant leader. Tony did a great job with the composition of this scene to keep things dynamic and emotive.

The fury of the bat is on full display and it makes for an awesome DPS!!
