DescriptionWow, I've had this cover for over 5 years, and just posting. This is what happens when you spend a day posting!Greg LaRocque drew this 1990 cover for The Flash #40 featuring the Flash trapped by Dr. Alchemy. It comes from a few years into the post-Crisis Wally West run. Wally West first appeared as Kid Flash in The Flash #110 (1960). When his mentor, Barry Allen, AKA the Silver Age Flash, died in Crisis on Infinite Earths #8, Wally took up the mantle of the Flash. Barry would not return from the dead for two decades and Wally's fan-favorite run that began in 1987 would last over 200 issues. Synopsis for "Philosopher's Stone" Wally West tries to help Linda Park getting rid of the spirit of Irish bard Seamus O'Relkig. Thus, they visit Albert Desmond who is the twin-brother of the supervillain known as Doctor Alchemy. But it is exactly that Dr. Alchemy that is replacing Albert to be able to attack the Flash using his Philosopher's Stone. Elsewhere, Tina and Jerry McGee are working on an artificial intelligence project which might go in the wrong direction ... Social/Sharing |

A great cover from a great run. I lways forget that the villain on the cover isn't The Spectre though! Nice inks by Marzan, which on the Flash figure resembles the stylings of Joe Kubert somewhat.

5 years eh? I think it's interesting to point out if you look at the published cover and compare.. he didn't have hairy hands originally.. but 5 years in a portfolio...😛😜 Seriously though.. very very nice!

A Flash cover from this era is worth its weight in gold. Especially if it has Dr. Alchemy.

Killer cover! Dr Alchemy does have a striking resemblance to The Spectre. Love the composition here.
